Tech News Artificial intelligence infrastructure may soon move beyond Earth. SpaceX and NVIDIA are working together to bring powerful AI computing systems into orbit , with the first-generation Starmind AI satellite targeted for launch in the fourth quarter of 2027. The announcement marks an ambitious attempt to take AI computing beyond traditional data centers on Earth. NVIDIA announced on August 24 that SpaceX-AI will deploy its Vera CPU for next-generation agentic AI workloads and expand its Grok infrastructure using the Vera Rubin platform. The companies are also adapting a Vera Rubin NVL72 system for the Starmind satellite.

Tech News Alibaba is putting even more money behind artificial intelligence. The Chinese technology giant announced on August 23 that it plans to raise approximately $10.2 billion through a new share placement in Hong Kong , with the company saying 100% of the net proceeds will be used to expand its full-stack AI capabilities . The fundraising is one of the largest technology investments in China's rapidly growing AI sector and comes as Alibaba faces increasingly intense competition from both Chinese and U.S. technology companies.

Tech News The humanoid robotics industry could be approaching a major turning point similar to the arrival of ChatGPT, according to Unitree CEO Wang Xingxing . Speaking at the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing on August 20 , Wang said the industry is moving toward a "ChatGPT moment" for embodied intelligence a point where robots could understand simple voice or text instructions and perform most tasks in unfamiliar environments. The comparison to ChatGPT is significant. When ChatGPT became widely available in 2022, it demonstrated that AI could interact with people in a remarkably natural way and triggered rapid adoption of generative AI. Wang believes robotics could eventually experience a similar breakthrough when machines become capable of understanding and acting in the physical world.
